Thandel team inflates collections for the 100 Cr poster

“Thandav” has ended the flop streak for Naga Chaitanya and brought him some relief. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by Bunny Vas, “Thandel” made impressive money in the first weekend, but thereafter, it collapsed.

Even as the film was struggling at the box office, the makers are not stopping releasing new posters each day with inflated numbers. The makers claimed in the first weekend that it will collect Rs 100 Cr share. But it was pretty evident on the first Monday that the film would not reach that target. It will not even go past Rs 60 Cr share.

But the makers have already released a poster with Rs 90 Cr. So, they will come up with a poster of Rs 100 Cr next week. It is a completely fake number.

Target fixed

The makers fixed a target of Rs 100 Cr collection before the release. So, to reach the milestone, they are adding fake numbers each day even though the film’s collections dwindled long back.

Poor show in the USA

The best example of its poor showing is that “Thandel” collapsed in North America after grossing $700k. When a film doesn’t even collect $1 million in North America after collecting more than $400k on the first day, it gives a clear picture that it failed to connect to the audience.

“Thandel” is a romantic action thriller set in Srikakulam with Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi playing the lovers. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi had earlier acted together in Sekhar Kammula’s “Love Story” four years ago. This is their second film.
