Post-Cabinet meeting on Friday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu discussed with his cabinet colleagues about matters like the assassination of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.

Naidu noted the efforts to criminalize politics, accusing the YSRCP chairman of corrupting the political landscape for personal gain, and urged the ministers to vigorously combat his nefarious campaign and the media outlets involved.

Naidu asserted that we should not underestimate the events from Vivekananda’s murder to the deaths of witnesses in the case.

In addition to instituting a gag order prohibiting public discourse on the Viveka murder, Jagan initially requested a CBI investigation while in opposition, only to subsequently reverse his position, asserting that such an inquiry was unnecessary.

Jagan even endeavored to implicate his sister (the victim’s daughter) as the perpetrator in the murder case, Naidu informed his Cabinet colleagues, and advised them to exercise caution with such individuals.

About the case

YS Vivekananda Reddy, a former minister and uncle of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered on March 15, 2019, at his residence in Pulivendula, Andhra Pradesh. Initially suspected to be a natural death, later investigations revealed it was a murder.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the case. Several suspects, including close associates and relatives, were questioned. The case became a major political controversy in the state.
