Tabu returns to Telugu cinema after 5 years

Tabu needs no introduction, as she is a globally recognized actress. Despite reaching the age of 50, Tabu continues to thrive and maintains her popularity. In fact, she recently appeared in a web series. Tabu starred in the HBO prequel series “Dune: Prophecy” as Sister Francesca, proving her craze globally.

Tabu’s return to Telugu cinema

Tabu, originally from Hyderabad, enjoys immense popularity among Telugu audiences. Her career began in Telugu cinema only. She is now set to make a comeback after 5 years.

In 2020, Trivikram’s “Ala Vaikuntapurramloo,” a blockbuster movie, she played mother to Allu Arjun. The latest reports she is set to return in Puri Jagannadh’s new film.

Puri Jagannadh is set to make a new film starring Vijay Sethupathi as the main hero. Last month, the team released a photograph in which Puri, Vijay Sethupathi, and Charmee Kaur greeting each other and made it clear that they are collaborating.

Puri’s different film and unusual cast

Puri Jagannadh not only faced financial setbacks following the massive failures of “Liger” and “Double iSmart,” but also received heavy trolling and criticism for his hackneyed ideas and outdated narrative methods. Everyone slammed Puri’s carefree attitude towards filming stories.

To regain his form and his glory, he is attempting a unique film, a departure from his regular style. Hence, he roped in Vijay Sethupathi, who is not a regular commercial hero.

He is also choosing high-profile, acclaimed actors for other roles and is said to be roping in Tabu.

Puri is in the process of finalizing the rest of the lead cast. He has approached her, and she has reportedly shown interest in acting under his direction and also in sharing screen space with Vijay Sethupathi, who gained global fame after the success of “Maharaja.”

Tabu’s Telugu films

Tabu’s first Telugu film was “Coolie No. 1,” opposite Venkatesh, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. The film saw its release in 1990. Prior to the release of the film, she starred as the lead heroine in several Bollywood films. Thereafter, she appeared in many Telugu films, including “Ninne Pelladutha,” “Sisindri,” “Prema Desam” (dubbed), “Aavida Maa Aavide,” “Chenna Keshava Reddy,” “Andarivaadu,” “Idi Sangathi,” “Pandurangadu,” and “Ala Vaikuntapurramloo.”
