Puri Jagannadh is reportedly set to collaborate with Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi for an upcoming Telugu film. Rumors have been circulating in Tollywood circles since early this week, suggesting that Puri recently presented a compelling script to the versatile actor, who immediately gave his approval, indicating a promising new venture.

According to industry sources, Vijay Sethupathi was so impressed by the narrative that he has prioritized this project over other commitments, offering continuous dates to kickstart production soon.

While official confirmation is still awaited, insiders hint that the film will be a straight Telugu production, marking Sethupathi’s first lead role in a Telugu-only project under Puri’s direction.

Puri’s flop show

Recent flops like Liger and Double iSmart have put Puri Jagannadh through a difficult period. This collaboration is considered a potential game-changer for the director.

Vijay Sethupathi, fondly called “Makkal Selvan’ by his fans, has been riding high on the success of films like Maharaja and Viduthalai Part 2.

His growing popularity in Telugu cinema, sparked by his debut in Uppena and bolstered by dubbed hits, makes this pairing with Puri a tantalizing prospect.

Rumors also point to KVN Productions as a possible backer, though details remain unconfirmed. Puri used to produce his films on his production banner, “Puri Connects.” However, Tollywood members often attribute Puri’s downfall to actress Charrmee, who has been living with him. Therefore, actors are not expressing interest in participating in his films, even if they are produced under his banner.
