Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma’s high-profile divorce has been officially settled, with Chahal agreeing to pay Rs 4.75 crore as alimony.

The decision was formalized during a Bombay High Court hearing on March 19, where the court waived the mandatory six-month cooling-off period under the Hindu Marriage Act to expedite the process.

This move was influenced by Chahal’s professional commitments, as he is set to play for Punjab Kings in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, which begins on March 22.

As per court proceedings, Chahal has already paid Rs 2.37 crore, with the remaining amount to be cleared upon finalization of the divorce.

End of speculation over alimony

The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, had been living separately since June 2022 due to irreconcilable differences.

The settlement also puts an end to widespread speculation that Verma had demanded ₹60 crore in alimony. Her family had previously dismissed these reports as “baseless” in a statement released last month.

With the divorce now settled, both Chahal and Verma can move forward, putting an end to months of legal proceedings and media speculation.
