Nithiin and Sreeleela’s pairing fails again

Tollywood actor Nithiin and actress Sreeleela’s much-hyped on-screen chemistry has once again failed to make an impact at the box office. Their latest collaboration, Robinhood, has joined their previous film, Extra Ordinary Man, as another commercial disappointment.

Despite high expectations and aggressive promotions, the duo’s second outing, which hit theaters on March 28, 2025, has received mixed-to-negative reviews. With underwhelming first-weekend collections, doubts are now being raised about their viability as a lead pair.

Failed comeback for Nithiin

Directed by Venky Kudumula, Robinhood was marketed as a heist action-comedy and was expected to be Nithiin’s big comeback after a series of flops. Sreeleela’s rising popularity was seen as a potential boost. However, despite a special cameo by cricketer David Warner, the film struggled to attract audiences.

Audiences have been vocal on social media, calling out the film for its weak screenplay, lackluster songs, and predictable storyline. Even with star power and promotional efforts, Robinhood failed to deliver the excitement and engagement needed for a box office success.

This disappointment follows Extra Ordinary Man, their first collaboration, which released in December 2023. That film also flopped, earning less than Rs 10 crore against a Rs 30 crore budget and receiving harsh criticism for its absurd plot and incoherent execution.

Is this pairing “jinxed”?

With back-to-back failures, industry insiders and fans are beginning to question whether Nithiin and Sreeleela’s on-screen pairing simply lacks the spark needed for box office success. Some have even dubbed them a “jinxed combo” that fails to deliver the entertainment factor Tollywood audiences expect.
