Laila: Vishwak Sen’s film receives lowest ratings

“Laila,” starring Vishwasen, has received the lowest ratings in the actor’s career. All the leading websites and film critics gave the film ratings in the range of 0.5/5 to 1.75/5, and the unanimous verdict proves that the film indeed is disappointing and boring.

While some fans found it entertaining and praised Sen’s performance in the getup of a woman, the majority have criticized it for its poor screenplay, direction, and execution, labeling it as one of the worst films in recent times.

The film has sparked significant online discussion, with hashtags like #DisasterLaila trending, reflecting widespread disappointment. Despite some positive remarks about Sen’s effort and certain comedic elements, the consensus leans heavily towards viewing ‘Laila’ as a box office disaster.

Political controversy

Additionally, political affiliations of the film’s producer have influenced some viewers’ decisions to boycott the movie. The film received a lot of controversy when actor Prudhvi made some comments against the YSR Congress party, leading to calls for boycotting the film. However, both Vishwaksen and Prudhvi later offered apologies, and the movie hit the theaters on Friday (February 14) smoothly.

Directed by newcomer Ram Narayan, “Laila” has Vishwaksen playing a beauty parlor owner named Sonu, who, due to an incident, lands in a situation to disguise as a woman named Laila.

The crass and vulgar jokes received a lot of criticism.

 Vishwaksen last year won a lot of praise for his terrific performance in the film, Gaami. But his subsequent films like “Gangs of Godavari” and “Mechanic Rocky” have tanked at the box office. With “Laila” flopping, he is in deep trouble.

Many say Vishwaksen should concentrate on selecting excellent stories rather than creating cheap gimmicks.
