On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of undermining the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution.
Speaking at a commemorative event in Hyderabad, where he paid floral tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Reddy criticized the state government for its alleged failure to uphold Ambedkar’s ideals of equality and social justice.
Kishan Reddy claimed that the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has neglected its constitutional duties and insulted Ambedkar’s legacy through unfulfilled promises and governance failures.
“The Congress speaks of democracy but has a history of betraying Ambedkar’s vision. Their government in Telangana has cheated the people with false assurances, particularly to marginalized communities, and disrespected the spirit of the Constitution,” he said, referencing the Emergency period when Congress “trampled upon democratic rights.”
He further accused the state government of ignoring the 125-foot Ambedkar statue in Hyderabad during today’s celebrations, calling it a deliberate act of disrespect.
“While we honor Ambedkar’s contributions, the Congress government fails to even garland his statue, showing their true colors,” Reddy remarked, echoing sentiments from similar criticisms last year.
The Union Minister highlighted the Narendra Modi-led central government’s efforts to promote Ambedkar’s legacy, including developing five places associated with him as ‘Panchteerth’ tourist destinations. He urged citizens to embrace Ambedkar’s ideals of unity and equality, while dismissing Congress’s criticisms as “baseless rhetoric.”
