The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) on Saturday initiated the demolition of illegal constructions estimated to be worth Rs 4,000 crore. These structures had come up across approximately 39 acres of allegedly disputed land in Hafizpet and Raidurg.
The properties in question, located in Survey No. 79 of Hafizpet, near HITEC city Railway station, were allegedly developed by a group linked to a political leader from neighboring Andhra Pradesh. Despite being embroiled in legal disputes over government land encroachment, several constructions had been carried out on the site.
Interestingly, Hydraa’s action was triggered by a complaint from a local youngster who claimed he was denied access to the area to play cricket.
The redevelopment of Hitec City Railway Station, undertaken by the Ministry of Railways, is progressing swiftly. As of now, approximately 72% of the work—including the construction of entry ramps and a foot overbridge—has been completed.
