Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan returned to Hyderabad on Sunday with his family. It must be recalled that his youngest son, Mark Shankar Pawanovich, injured in a devastating fire that broke out at an international school in Singapore on April 8.
The fire tragically claimed the life of one student and left several others, including Mark, with serious injuries. Mark was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where he received emergency treatment for injuries to his hands and lungs, as well as severe smoke inhalation.
He underwent a bronchoscopy—a medical procedure to assess lung damage caused by inhaling toxic fumes. Doctors closely monitored his condition over several days as his family remained by his side.
Pawan Kalyan immediately flew to Singapore accompanied by his brother, Chiranjeevi, and sister-in-law Surekha. The actor-politician remained at Mark’s bedside throughout the recovery period, prioritizing his son’s health and safety above all else.
After days of intensive care and gradual recovery, Mark was finally deemed fit to travel.
On their return to Hyderabad, the family was greeted by an outpouring of support from fans and well-wishers. A widely circulated video showed an emotional moment as Pawan Kalyan was seen carrying his son tenderly through the Hyderabad airport, with his wife Anna Lezhneva and daughter Polena Anjana Pawanova by his side.
Sources close to the family say that while Mark is now stable, he will continue receiving medical care and monitoring in Hyderabad as he recovers both physically and emotionally from the traumatic experience. The incident has sparked conversations around student safety and emergency protocols in international schools abroad.
