After redefining intense cinema with the blockbuster Animal, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is gearing up for his next magnum opus—Spirit, starring pan-India superstar Prabhas in the lead role. The high-octane action thriller is slated to begin production in September or October 2025.
Billed as a cop-based action drama with Vanga’s signature emotional depth, Spirit has been in the works for over six months, with the filmmaker pouring meticulous effort into crafting a screenplay that promises to be both gripping and genre-defying.
To bring Vanga’s intense vision to life, Prabhas has reportedly been asked to undergo a physical transformation, adopting a leaner, more agile physique for the role. The director envisions the character to be deeply physical, with Prabhas performing most of his own stunts to elevate the realism and intensity of the action sequences.
Before stepping into Spirit, Prabhas is currently focused on wrapping up two major projects—The Raja Saab, a romantic entertainer, and the much-anticipated action-drama Fauji.
Once these are completed, he is expected to dedicate himself entirely to Spirit, both in terms of performance and preparation.
Adding to the anticipation, the production team is said to be scouting international talent, particularly actors from the United States and South Korea, to round out the ensemble cast.
This move aims to give Spirit a global appeal and cinematic scale, although official casting announcements are still under wraps. The film is targeting a theatrical release in 2027, and industry insiders believe it could be one of the most significant Indian films of the decade.
