The Telangana Legislative Assembly witnessed a heated confrontation yesterday as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy during the debate on the Appropriation Bill in the ongoing Budget Session 2025.

The exchange, filled with political barbs and personal jibes, created an uproar in the House. The confrontation began when KTR criticized the Congress government’s performance, accusing Revanth Reddy of failing to fulfill electoral promises and mismanaging the state’s finances. He also accused the CM of resorting to personal attacks instead of addressing key governance issues, citing his remarks against BRS leadership, including former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

“KCR is Telangana’s Jathi Pitha”

The debate took a dramatic turn when Revanth Reddy mocked BRS leaders for referring to KCR as Telangana Jathi Pitha (Father of Telangana).

In response, KTR firmly defended the title, asserting that KCR rightfully earned the status for spearheading the Telangana statehood movement, governing for a decade, and driving the state’s development.

“The Chief Minister thinks he can distract people with cheap shots, but Telangana is watching. He only speaks in expletives. There is no doubt that our leader, former Chief Minister KCR, is Jathi Pitha. What is Revanth Reddy’s achievement? Only using foul language. He is Boothu Pitha (Father of Abusive Words),” KTR retorted.

In response, Revanth Reddy hit back, defending his administration’s record while accusing the BRS of leaving behind a legacy of corruption and mismanagement.

The stormy session underscored the intensifying political battle between the two leaders, with KTR vowing that the BRS would escalate its efforts to expose the Congress government’s “misrule” both inside and outside the Assembly.
