A roof collapse at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Telangana has trapped eight workers, with rescue operations now in full swing. Government officials, including Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, along with ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, have been actively involved, coordinating with the NDRF, SDRF, and the Indian Army’s ETF.
The rescue teams are battling against time as they navigate through the tunnel’s water and debris to reach the trapped individuals.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately responded and offered every help the state needs.
Congress senior leader and opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also enquired about the status from the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

“Deeply distressed to learn about the tunnel roof collapse in Telangana. My thoughts are with those trapped inside and their families at this difficult time. I have been informed that rescue operations are underway, and the state government, along with disaster relief teams, is doing everything possible to expeditiously bring back those in danger,” Rahul Gandhi wrote.
KTR’s comments
On the other hand, BRS leader KT Rama Rao strongly criticized the state government for its failure in handling the projects. He also questioned the BJP-NDA government for its inaction against state governments.
With the collapse of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) and Sunkishala retaining wall failure raising further concerns, he wondered if there would be any action against the Congress government. “Let’s see if NDSA (National Dam Safety Authority) or any other national agency will react,” he said.
