Many political trade pundits have correctly predicted that former YSR Congress Party general secretary V. Vijay Sai Reddy will soon join the Bharatiya Janata Party. When he announced his resignation from both his Rajya Sabha seat and party membership to the YSRC party, many political analysts predicted that he was following Amit Shah’s strategy and would soon join the BJP.
At the time of his resignation, Vijay Sai Reddy said he will be retiring from politics and will take up agriculture.
But the latest reports say he will be formally joining the BJP.Reports suggest that he will join the party in June or July. Vijay Sai Reddy has maintained close ties with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Buzz is that Amit Shah is hoping to create a space for BJP to become a major force in Andhra Pradesh. BJP is in power in an alliance with TDP and Jana Sena, but it is a minor player. In the coming days, BJP will be expanding its base in Andhra Pradesh.
As the BJP already gained firm control in Telangana, it is slowly doing groundwork in Andhra Pradesh. If Sai Reddy joins the party, he will help bring in some leaders from the YSRC party and also bring in financial muscle. Jana Sena, too, will benefit from it.
