Veteran actress Vijayashanthi has officially denied rumors suggesting her involvement in the much-anticipated sequel “Akhanda 2: Thandavam,” starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Sreenu.
In a recent interview following the release of her latest film, Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi, Vijayashanthi firmly stated that she has not been approached for a role in Akhanda 2, contrary to circulating media reports.
“I have not been approached for Akhanda 2, nor have I received any offer from the team. These are just rumors, and I want to set the record straight,” she clarified.
Speculation surrounding her casting began after reports emerged that the makers were looking to cast a prominent actress for a pivotal role. Given Vijayashanthi’s iconic stature and recent comeback to impactful roles—including Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020) and Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi (2025)—many fans and film watchers believed she would be a fitting addition to the ensemble, which already features Pragya Jaiswal, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Samyuktha.
While putting an end to the rumors, Vijayashanthi expressed appreciation for the public interest in her work.
“I’m open to strong characters, but nothing has been finalized with this project,” she added.
She also reflected on her recent performance in “Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi”, where she portrayed a fierce IPS officer and mother to Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. Despite the film’s mixed reviews and modest box office results, Vijayashanthi stood by the film’s intent. Her comments reflect a dedication to meaningful cinema over commercial metrics.
Meanwhile, “Akhanda 2: Thandavam” is progressing at a brisk pace under the banner of 14 Reels Plus, with a Sankranti 2026 release planned. The sequel follows the massive success of Akhanda (2021), which solidified Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s blockbuster streak.
Though Vijayashanthi won’t be part of Akhanda 2, the film has high expectations.
