In an unexpected development, music composer S. Thaman has disclosed that the original soundtrack for “The Raja Saab,” the highly anticipated film featuring Prabhas and helmed by Maruthi, has been completely discarded.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India on March 17, Thaman revealed that he rejected the original compositions, choosing instead to produce a new collection of songs to meet modern preferences and the film’s significant expectations.
Thaman clarified that the decision was made as the film’s filming approached completion, with the creators originally intending to retain the previous melodies.
“I had previously composed songs, but as they had not yet been filmed, I felt they had lost their novelty,” he stated. “Given an audio company’s investment of ₹30-40 crore and Prabhas Garu’s pan-India allure, we could not accept anything short of exceptional.”
The discarded tracks comprised an introductory piece and further compositions that Thaman considered obsolete for the contemporary audience.
The composer has commenced the creation of a new album from inception, vowing to deliver a blend of high-energy commercial tracks designed for Prabhas’ resurgence in mass entertainment.
“Prabhas’ films necessitate an extraordinary level of energy, and we are fully committed to delivering it,” Thaman added. But the reactions to his confession are mixed.
The horror-comedy is directed by Maruthi and produced by TG Vihwa Prasad. The film features Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar alongside Prabhas. And Prabhas portrays a dual role in this film, signifying a departure from his prior Pan-India endeavors.
