BRS @25: Warangal meeting a roaring success

The Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) were a grand display of the party’s strength and resilience. Despite numerous hurdles created by the state government and the police, thousands of BRS supporters thronged the public meeting held at Elkathurthy in Warangal district.

A show of strength for BRS

The event took place on a sprawling 1,213-acre site, with 154 acres dedicated exclusively to the celebrations. Around 1,500 volunteers ensured the smooth conduct of the event, which witnessed farmers from Suryapet arriving in traditional bullock carts, symbolizing the enduring spirit of Telangana’s rural heartland.

Lakhs of people and party cadre attended, which gave a huge boost to the party.

From TRS to BRS

K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) founded the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 2000 after resigning from the Telugu Desam Party, with the sole aim of achieving statehood for Telangana—a dream cherished by its people for decades. Under KCR’s leadership, TRS spearheaded the statehood movement, culminating in the creation of Telangana in 2014.

KCR became the first Chief Minister of Telangana and led the state for nine and a half years. In an ambitious move to play a bigger role in national politics, TRS was rebranded as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). However, the loss in the 2023 elections came as a major setback for the party and its leader.

Over the past one and a half years, the BRS has faced intense challenges, with both the Congress and BJP attempting to dismantle its political base. Against this backdrop, the Silver Jubilee celebrations served as a crucial moment to reenergize the party cadre—and by all measures, the event was a resounding success.

Reflecting on BRS’s 25-year journey, KCR highlighted the party’s pivotal role in transforming Telangana into a model state. He credited the BRS with completing long-pending irrigation projects and driving development across all sectors.

“We have developed the state on all fronts,” he said, urging party workers to continue their fight for people’s issues with renewed vigor.
