Former Andhra Pradesh Minister and senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao, popularly known as Kodali Nani, was admitted to AIG Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, earlier today, sparking concern among his supporters and party cadre.

The Gudivada politician, known for his fiery speeches and unwavering loyalty to YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, reportedly sought medical attention after experiencing health issues, though details remain unclear.

Sources close to the family revealed that Kodali Nani was rushed to the hospital after complaining of discomfort, with initial reports suggesting chest pain or gastric problem.

A team of doctors is currently attending to him, and he remains under observation. While some media outlets have speculated about a possible heart-related condition, neither the hospital nor his family has released an official statement confirming the exact nature of his ailment.

News of his hospitalization has sent ripples through Andhra Pradesh’s political circles, given his significant role in the YSRCP and his history of health challenges.

In 2022, he underwent kidney stone surgery at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad, and last year, he collapsed during a party meeting in Gudivada, reportedly due to exhaustion after an intense election campaign.

A politician known for controversies

Kodali Nani’s political career has been both eventful and controversial. A four-time MLA from Gudivada, he served as the Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs under the YSRCP government until the party’s defeat in the 2024 Assembly elections.

Since then, he has maintained a relatively low profile, making occasional public appearances—including a recent visit to Vijayawada sub-jail to support a detained party colleague. His sudden hospitalization comes at a time when the YSRCP is grappling with internal challenges and strategizing for a political comeback.

The timing of his health episode has fueled speculation, particularly as the TDP-led NDA government intensifies its focus on alleged irregularities during the YSRCP’s tenure.

Some political analysts wonder if this development might delay potential legal or political actions against him. However, YSRCP leaders have dismissed such theories as baseless, urging people to focus on his health rather than conspiracy narratives.

As news of his hospitalization spread, party workers gathered outside AIG Hospital, anxiously awaiting updates.
