Hyperloop is a new technology that allows safer and faster transportation. While many countries, like China and the USA, have been working on research to implement for public transportation in a big way, India has now made a significant advancement.

The completion of the first hyperloop test track at IIT Madras is a giant achievement.

This 422-meter track, developed in collaboration with the Indian Railways, aims to enable ultra-fast travel, potentially reducing the travel time between cities like Delhi and Jaipur to just 30 minutes at speeds up to 1,100 km/h.

The project underscores a partnership between government and academia to foster innovation in eco-friendly, high-speed transport, which could revolutionize logistics and urban connectivity across the country.

“The hyperloop project at @iitmadras Government-academia collaboration is driving innovation in futuristic transportation,” wrote Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology.

What is hyperloop

Hyperloop is a planned high-velocity transit system for passengers and cargo. The concept was introduced by entrepreneur Elon Musk in 2013.

Hyperloop One, a prominent and well-capitalized entity in the hyperloop sector, declared bankruptcy and terminated operations on 31 December 2023.
