The trailer for “Subham,” the debut production venture of actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu under her banner Tralala Moving Pictures, was unveiled today.
The horror-comedy, directed by Praveen Kandregula, promises a quirky blend of humor, suspense, and heart, with Samantha stealing the show in a hilarious cameo appearance as a spiritual figure, referred to as ‘Maata.’
The trailer opens with a group of husbands humorously boasting about their control over their wives, setting the stage for a narrative that challenges outdated gender norms. As the story unfolds, the men face unexpected chaos when the women in their village become engrossed in a mysterious TV show, leading to a series of spooky and comedic events.
The trailer’s highlight comes toward the end, where Samantha makes a dramatic entrance as a shaman-like ‘Maata.’ In a side-splitting moment, when asked about the fate of the men, she playfully gestures that they might meet their doom, even offering mock condolences, adding a delightful layer of fun to the eerie setup.’
The trailer’s fresh narrative and vibrant visuals, coupled with a foot-tapping score by Vivek Sagar and music by Clinton Cerejo, have sparked comparisons to successful horror-comedies like Stree and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
“Subham” features a talented ensemble cast, including Harshith Malgireddy, Shriya Kontham, Charan Peri, Shalini Kondepudi, Gavireddy Srinivas, and Shravani, with a story crafted by Vasanth Maringanti. The film is co-produced by Raj Nidimoru of Raj & DK fame, adding to the anticipation surrounding its release.
“Subham” is set for a global theatrical release on May 9, 2025.
This is Samantha’s first film appearance in the last two years. It is her return to films.
