Priyamani recently promoted her Malayalam film. “Officer on Duty” is the film that she had promoted. During the interview sessions of this film, she had opened up about the hate comments she received.
She said she had seen multitude of abusive remarks and ‘love jihad’ allegations directed at her and her husband, Mustafa Raj, following their interfaith marriage in 2017.
The actress disclosed that critics made malevolent forecasts regarding their future offspring, asserting, “They even claimed that, when we have children tomorrow, they would join ISIS.”
The incessant internet harassment significantly affected Priyamani’s emotional well-being, particularly in the early days. She expressed regret that, even presently, any social media post involving her husband incites comments focused on their religious disparities, with nine out of ten replies concentrated on their caste or religion.
Notwithstanding the persistent hostility, Priyamani remains steadfast and maintains her emphasis on professional obligations.
She is scheduled to feature in the forthcoming film “Jana Nayagan,” alongside actor Vijay.
