Bollywood and Telugu cinema star Mrunal Thakur has once again taken a bold stand against body-shaming, responding sharply to derogatory social media comments labeling her body as “flabby.”
The actress, known for her roles in Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna, addressed the issue after facing yet another round of online trolling.
The controversy flared up after a series of Instagram posts and comments criticized Mrunal’s appearance in recent photos. Some users insensitively referred to her as “flabby” and even suggested she “reduce her lower part.”
“This is my body type,” Mrunal said boldly.
These remarks mirror past instances of body-shaming directed at Mrunal, including being mockingly called “matka” (pot) due to her pear-shaped figure.
“I work hard to stay fit, but this is my body type, and I’m proud of it. If my curves make you uncomfortable, that’s your problem, not mine. Fix your mindset, not my body.”
A vocal advocate for body positivity, Mrunal has previously spoken about the emotional toll of online abuse. In a 2024 interview with Humans of Bombay, she revealed experiencing low moments where trolling made her hesitant to even get out of bed.
In another interview, she stated: “I have thick thighs, and I own them. Indian women are curvaceous and beautiful—why should we chase unrealistic standards set by others?”
This isn’t the first time Mrunal has confronted trolls, and her continued advocacy has made her a powerful voice in the fight against toxic beauty standards.
On the work front, Mrunal Thakur has an exciting slate of projects in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. She is currently working on “Dacoit” opposite Adivi Sesh in Telugu.
