Top director SS Rajamouli’s long-awaited cinematic adaptation of the “Mahabharata” is back in focus. The visionary director, renowned for global blockbusters such as Baahubali and RRR, has ignited widespread speculation and anticipation after recent updates were shared during the pre-release event of “HIT 3.”

Rajamouli, who has consistently referred to the Mahabharata as his “ultimate goal,” confirmed that actor Nani will be a key part of the epic saga.

“Definitely, Nani will be part of my film based on Mahabharata,” Rajamouli announced, further fueling discussions about the star-studded cast.

Cast speculations

Rumors are circulating that NTR is set to play Lord Krishna; Prabhas will take on the role of Karna; and Ram Charan could also feature in a pivotal role. However, these claims remain speculative for now.

10-part film or 3-part film

In previous interviews, Rajamouli has shared that his vision for the Mahabharata involves a grand 10-part film series, a project that will take years of research, given the epic’s multiple versions across India.

“Every film I make, I feel I’m learning something to ultimately create the Mahabharata. It’s my dream, and every step is toward that,” Rajamouli reiterated. “The story will remain the same, but I will enhance the characters and relationships in my own way.” But his father, Vijayendra Prasad, in his recent interview revealed that the Mahabharata adaptation will be made in three parts. He said the work on the project has already begun, with him and other writers focusing on the script.
